I’ve loved seeing all the pictures of the snowfall over the last few days. The perfect snow looks so peaceful and inviting. It makes me want to curl up with a warm cup of hot cocoa and read by a fire.
But then I look outside my window and I’m very grateful for my winters here…

Today, on Veterans Day, I think of my grandfather and his willingness to leave my grandmother to fight in WWII. I’m so grateful for his service, and that my kids and I are able to still sit down and talk with him about his experiences. They love to hear about how he was in charge of making the officers homemade ice cream, and earned money on the side by ironing his shipmates’ uniforms because he was the best at it.
To my grandfather, and all the other men and women who have served, are serving, or will serve, I thank you.
